For one night only, Fabrica Gallery transforms into a fleeting dream, with beats that pulse and thrum like the heart of the night and melodies that meander like a wisp of dreamy fog, you’ll find yourself in a realm of pure ethereality. Shadows morph and dance with you, salt lamps cast an incandescent spell, and UV light reveals the secrets of this liminal space.

Who Is Still Dreaming? Is brought to you by local arts producer, creative community organiser and artist Tarik Elmoutawakil,  (Marlborough Productions/ Brownton Abbey/ Radical Rhizomes). Co-produced by installation artist Thomas Buckley.

]]> CHARCO /charco-by-pepa-ubera/ Fri, 21 Oct 2022 19:00:00 +0000 /?p=1528 Dive into the captivating world of CHARCO – a unique performance installation set in a dystopian future in which all plant and animal life on earth has died away. In this speculative scenario, CHARCO (meaning ‘puddle’ in Spanish) invites us to imagine ‘cyborg landscapes’, expansive spaces in which the moving body seeks out new relationships between infrastructure, nature, and society. Audiences will encounter a group of humans exploring ways of being alive together in a piece that interrogates our connection to the non-human world.

The performance installation combines choreographic scores performed by a group of dancers, interactive technology, and a sonic landscape that includes text and poems.

CHARCO, a world premiere for The Dance Space, is an episode of a larger research and multidisciplinary artistic project, The Machine of Horizontal Dreams (2023-25) by Pepa Ubera, that examines, questions and re-imagines ideas of progress.

The development of the project is supported by Arts Council England.

About Pepa Ubera

Ubera is an artist and a dancer based in London. Her choreographic work challenges social structures, questioning how the body behaves in the current context. In her interdisciplinary practice she has been exploring other medias working with video, light, text, creating site specific and curating performance events.
